COVIS Pulse is only as good as what it can read. Today that is eight connectors; the roadmap is considerably longer, and every one of them has its own auth model, rate limits, pagination quirks and definition of a 'transaction'.

This role owns that surface. It is the least glamorous and most load-bearing engineering work in the company, and the person doing it well is the reason a business owner trusts the number on the screen.

What you’ll do

  • Design, build and maintain connectors to payment, accounting, analytics, review and calendar platforms.
  • Own the sync architecture — scheduling, incremental fetch, backfill, retry, and idempotency under partial failure.
  • Normalise wildly inconsistent third-party schemas into one internal model that reporting can rely on.
  • Build the reconciliation and alerting that catches a drifting number before a customer does.
  • Handle credentials properly: encryption at rest, least-privilege scopes, signed and expiring authorisation.

What we need from you

  • Four or more years in backend or data engineering, with real ownership of production pipelines.
  • Strong TypeScript or Python, and strong SQL. You should be comfortable reasoning about a slow query without reaching for an ORM.
  • Demonstrated experience with third-party API integration at scale — OAuth, webhooks, rate limiting, pagination, eventual consistency.
  • A rigorous attitude to data correctness. You should find a 0.4% discrepancy genuinely annoying.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.

Nice to have, not required

  • Experience with financial or accounting data and the reconciliation problems that come with it.
  • Postgres row-level security, or other multi-tenant isolation approaches.
  • You have built a connector framework rather than a pile of one-off integrations.

On degrees

No degree required. A degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or a related field is relevant here more than in most of our roles, but demonstrable pipeline work outweighs it.
